There are four craps tables in the main casino area, and one in the high roller area. I am mainly interested in playing craps, and IMO, this casino is great for that. The first thing I notice about this casino is that the air is fresh due to the No Smoking policy. Some rooms have a nice view of Mohawk River (hotel is standing right on its banks), and the grounds of he hotel merge into Riverwalk and a park.įor me, Rivers Casino Schenectady has been a nice experience.

Rooms were nice and almost everything was perfect, except I found it strange that design of the shower was open, with no way to close the door between the bathroom and a shower proper, leading to water spill into the bathroom from the shower. The downside is a lack of public transportation from the hotel to Schenectady, and it's nearly impossible to hail a taxi here either, but I am not sure the city has any transportation in the first place (there are taxis in the area, but you need to know their phone numbers in order to get them to come). That allows you to play, and to visit several restaurants inside the playing rooms, without feeling nauseous like in some other casinos. But I was pleasantly surprised that apparently they don't allow smoking inside the playing rooms. I was here on business and just happened to stay in the Rivers, was not really interested in casino. On the plus side, the casino is clean and makes an excellent first impression, and the setting is nice, along the Mohawk River. I cannot ever imagine returning to this venue for a concert or other special event. Who would have ever thought that there is actually more room in an airplane seat! To make the conditions even worse, all seats are at floor level, directly behind one another, which makes viewing the stage almost impossible, except for the most expensive seats. Seats were jammed so closely together, that almost everyone's arms were up against those in an adjacent seat. The large woman in front of us actually broke her seat. Except for the most expensive seats which appeared to have cushions, our seats wee the cheapest plastic seats on the market. Our ticket price ($70 each) was at the higher end of ticket prices, but was a poor value.

The odds of enjoying a concert or other special event at the Rivers Casino are definitely a poor gamble, with the odds stacked in favor of The House.
